About
Founded in 2015, the Allegheny Metal Collective (“AMC”) is a Pittsburgh based group dedicated to exhibiting together and sharing knowledge through demonstrations and lectures. Our members include traditional metalsmiths, fine jewelers, enamelists as well as mixed media artists. Meet some of our members by visiting our Members page.
The AMC monthly meetings are at a space conducive for both lectures and demonstrations. Past meetings have included a pin swap between members, an annual holiday ornament exchange, emerging artist lectures, student lectures as well as informal critiques. Technical demonstrations have included hydraulic press use, metal surface embellishments, pin back techniques, tinning and a “hammershop” which concentrated on forging, forming and raising. These exciting events are a way to exchange ideas, inspire the members and further build our artistic community in Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas.

The Collective's first group exhibition was at Contemporary Craft in 2016 and represented 12 of its members. In 2017, AMC was chosen to exhibit in a gallery space at Pittsburgh Center for the Arts and this show featured two pieces each from 20 members. The Collective curated the collection of artwork that was displayed in both exhibitions and also designed sight specific displays. AMC has curated several exhibitions since 2016 in various galleries.
